The door read Tessa Saint.
The truth was she was nothing of the sort.
Even the name was a lie.

The woman most men fantasized about, a domme, a walking wet dream, and a master with a whip, Tessa Saint took charge and delivered on that fantasy. But Emmy--the woman Tessa became once she walked out the door of the club--was getting tired of the game. It was time to try the vanilla life.

The door read Nathaniel Walsh
The truth was the man was an open book
Emmy was interested in reading.

Nathaniel was instantly attracted to the enigma of Emmy, and against her better judgement she lead him into her world of whips and blindfolds, kink and domination. Having a man unencumbered with perceptions of her lifestyle, Emmy could not resist Nathaniel at the tip of her lash, his willing bedroom submission.

The door read Club Imperial
The truth was Emmy hid there in the dark for a reason.
She should never have left the comfortable shadows.

Her secrets would find a way to the light- and it was only time until Emmy's lies were torn away and the truth revealed. Nathaniel wasn't ready for that.

Neither was she.

Consensual Club Imperial Book 1 edition by Katherine Rhodes O Benevides Literature Fiction eBooks

This book is surprising. The sex is almost vanilla - well, on the vanilla side of kinky anyway - but the depth of character development, multiple neatly interwoven plots, and setting is pure AAA. The romance is forced - rushed, as in most thrillers where the two leads discover love even though they have not a spare minute - but other than extreme temporal compression well done. From a man's perspective anyway. It does end in major cliffhangers on several levels and it's obviously part of one novel with zero resolution in this book. Normally I limit my reviews to four stars for that, but I so enjoyed the book that I am staying with five stars. Just be aware that unless you buy at least one more, you aren't going to be very satisfied.

Besides being based around a very sexual romance and the attendant difficulties of melding vanilla with non, the book mixes in a high stakes corporate subplot and some other interpersonal subplots. (No pun intended.) The characters are richly drawn and often seriously flawed, but in such ways as to make their unfolding back stories logically create the persons they are. Pacing is pretty good, nothing like the glacial angst typical for romances but also never making me think sex romp with some plot and characterization thrown in as filler. There is still a fair amount of interpersonal mystery to unfold and the interwoven corporate subplot is on the back burner. Hopefully this concludes in the next book, but I enjoyed this one enough to suspect that the author may successfully draw it out into three before it runs dry.

There were of course things for which I had little care, namely the detail of fancy restaurants and designer shoes and dresses. But it never became tedious for me, and no doubt some will be thrilled. Overall I really liked it and will certainly buy the next as well as look at her other work. As long as one is okay with fairly graphic and somewhat kinky sex, it's highly recommended.

Consensual Club Imperial Book 1 edition by Katherine Rhodes O Benevides Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This review would be entirely different if the editor had done their job and deleted the last chapter. Characters are really well developed and likeable. Then you get to the end and the author decides for some reason to add several more story lines. I assume to continue the series. I get that. What was a problem for me is in addition to describing the character get severely beaten in minute detail that made me cringe she also had to demonstrate how evil these creeps really were (in case you were in ANY doubt after the beating) by describing with relish what they had done to their previous female victims before and after death! That was enough to make my stomach flip and ruin the entire book. Too bad I can't go back and scrub my brain!
I will make this somewhat brief... This book is one hell of a ride! So this dives deeper into a Dom/sub type relationship.. To the point that I want to try some of these things that Nathaniel and Emmy/ Tessa tried in her dark room, hell their sex scenes period were off the chain! What I loved about this story was how the story was told. I still of course have several questions but since we have more coming I'm sure it will be answered in future books. This shows the side of a woman who is a Dom working at a BDSM club that satisfies the lifestyle but doesn't have sex with the client because that would make them a brothel. So they work that FINE line between legal and illegal. You have Emmy by day who is an administrator assistant to a wealthy brother duo and Tessa by night who is a Dom that absolutely loves her control! She becomes drawn to Nathaniel who is her bosses brother but not her direct boss. Nathaniel is also drawn to her of course we see where this goes.. What we don't see is how she never truly understands a "vanilla" relationship and basically trying to be with this man who is an alpha male- but not a Dom was interesting... The great thing was he was not truly turned off by her lifestyle and even tried to embrace it. I loved his honesty with her which made her accountable for being honest with him. but boy when something happened that made things CRASH and burn damn! This is when my curiosity turns to FURIOUS- she knew her hard limits.. Just as she understood that he was completely new to her lifestyle she should've at least communicated with him better. I think she missed a few steps in teaching him about her even if it was hardcore her she could've left out the details like she did about her breasts.. Whatever that was.. But that HUGE mishap to cause her breakdown and eventual work in the club that night is like DAMN IT! SOMEBODY OPEN THE DOOR!!!! The way this book ends I wanted to throw my iPad! this book is good.. I couldn't put it down... It was free off of some sight- book bub, team romance.. Excellent read! On my way to book number 2.. NOW!
I was hooked fast into the story. I couldn't put it down for 2 days. I even bought the next book. This was the first time I have read a book by this author. Loved the writing style and scene descriptions. The only flaw was the cliffhanger. Would be better if sold in a box set. I can't wait to start the next one.
Overview. Nathaniel was a powerful man in Pittsburgh. He was born of wealth and he and his brother took over the family business. Nathaniel took his snotty girlfriend to a new club. Club imperial is for vip only people. The club houses kink in different levels. Nathaniel's girlfriend leaves him for another guy while there. But Nathaniel's eyes caught something even better. Tessa aka Emmy his brothers new assistant. She was a Domme there. He knew he had to have Emmy, but could he except not being in charge. Emmy works as a secretary during the day and Domme at night. But Nathaniel throws her control out of balance and she needs to find common grounds for them to have a relationship. But all her drama from the past keeps holding her back. What will she decide to do?
